Dear all
We have set the dates for the 2026/27 cycle of regional training days, hosted in conjunction with the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). These will predominantly be virtual events which aim to facilitate broader access and flexibility for learning.
These study days help to update your knowledge of important topics and meet key curriculum competencies that can be difficult to achieve in the workplace.
The events are organised and hosted by trainee volunteers with an interest in that subspecialty (Grid or SPIN, or aspiring towards either of these), or interested in Medical Education, and are supported by the three Curriculum Delivery TPDs: Jane Runnacles, Caroline Scott-Lang and Ellie Bond.
We are still looking for trainee organisers although some days are already allocated. If you would like to get involved, please contact Caroline.
The dates are:
Thursday 1st October 2026 – Paediatric Emergency Medicine (Caroline) VIRTUAL
Tuesday 20th October 2026 – Respiratory and ENT (Ellie) VIRTUAL
Thursday 5th November 2026 – Community Paediatrics (Jane) VIRTUAL
Thursday 10th December 2026 – Haematology (Caroline) VIRTUAL – organisers needed
Thursday 14th January 2027 – Neurology (Ellie) VIRTUAL
Thursday 11th February 2027 – Allergy (Jane) VIRTUAL
Thursday 15th April 2027 – Mental Health (Ellie) VIRTUAL

Tuesday 25th May 2027 – Adolescent (Caroline) FACE TO FACE – organisers needed

The TPDs can be contacted by email:
Caroline – Caroline.scott-lang@nhs.net
Jane – j.runnacles@nhs.net
Ellie – eleanor.bond@nhs.net
We ask Trust Reps and rota coordinators to work together locally to maximise attendance. We appreciate that the dates are not going to suit everyone but the dates are fixed by the RSM and we are enormously grateful for their support with these events. We acknowledge the emphasis on virtual sessions but it is very difficult to find space that can accommodate our numbers in a central London location. Virtual sessions will be available to view for 1 month after the event and you can book study leave to watch sessions after the day itself.
Advance booking via the RSM website is strongly recommended. Please be aware that for the May 2027 F2F event, space is limited, catering is only provided for those who have pre-registered and on the day entry cannot be guaranteed.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Caroline on caroline.scott-lang@nhs.net
