What is the START preparation course?

The START preparation course is a free evening course for any paediatric junior doctors preparing for the START (Specialty Trainee Assessment of Readiness for Tenure) assessment. The START  assessment is designed to assess your abilities relating to clinical decision-making as a new consultant. There is more information about START on the RCPCH website here.

This aims to demystify the assessment process and practicalities.

When is the START preparation course held?

The evening course runs twice a year, in the run up to each exam sitting. Courses will be advertised on the LSP website.

Thiss runs virtually, as a Q&A session, and we advise watching the session below (from 27/8/20) beforehand.

Other resources

We also have a START Trello board, with resources for the different stations, and a Whatsapp group for people to share resources and find people to practice with.

If you have would like access, or have any questions, contact katie.mckinnon@nhs.net
