This one-day course explores how to promote safe prescribing within paediatrics and starts by recapping some basic pharmacology, why children are different, and the most frequent prescribing mistakes and their management. The aim of the course is to equip you with a deeper knowledge and understanding of practical prescribing, addressing in particular the areas of neonates, renal disease and pain management.
In the morning, you can choose between two sessions: one that covers risk management for the team and hospital; and the other concentrating on the assessment of prescribing during training focusing on the START assessment. Finally, you will learn about the role of electronic prescribing now and in the future.
