Regional training day programme 2025/26

Dear all,

We have set the dates for the 2025/26 cycle of regional training days, hosted in conjunction with the Royal Society of Medicine.  We are continuing the hybrid programme of virtual and F2F events.

These study days help to update your knowledge of important topics and meet key curriculum competencies that can be difficult to achieve in the workplace.  F2F events will also offer additional opportunities for networking and interaction with the LSP training leads.

The events are organised and hosted by trainee volunteers with an interest in that subspecialty (Grid or SPIN, or aspiring towards either of these), or interested in Medical Education, and are supported by the three Curriculum Delivery TPDs:  Caroline Scott-Lang, Jane Runnacles and Ellie Bond.

We have had lots of interest already from trainee organisers and most dates are now sorted with a full organising team. If you would like to register interest for future events, please contact Caroline.

The dates are:

Thursday 2nd October 2025 – Cardiology  – VIRTUAL  (Ellie)

Tuesday 23rd October 2025 – Acute Paediatrics and PICU – FACE TO FACE (Caroline)

Thursday 6th November 2025 – Paediatric Endocrinology – VIRTUAL (Ellie)

Wednesday 10th December 2025 – Oncology – VIRTUAL (Jane)

Tuesday 13th January 2026 – Gastroenterology/Hepatology  – VIRTUAL (Jane)

Tuesday 10th February 2026 – Paediatric Trauma – VIRTUAL (Caroline)

Wednesday 14th April 2026 – Child Protection – VIRTUAL (Jane)

Friday 1st May 2026 – Neonatology – VIRTUAL (Ellie)

Wednesday 27th May 2026 –  Infectious Diseases and Sexual Health – FACE TO FACE (Caroline)

Tuesday 9th June 2026 – Nephrology – VIRTUAL (Caroline)

The TPDs can be contacted by email:

Jane – jane.runnacles@gmail.com

Ellie – eleanor.bond@nhs.net

We would be grateful if trust reps and rota coordinators could work together locally to maximise attendance.  We appreciate that there have been some clashes with half term but we have limited choice of available sessions.  We also recognise the imbalance of virtual vs F2F sessions but again we are limited with venue availability.  Virtual sessions will be available to view for 1 month after the event and you can request study leave for virtual events, including watching the catch up recordings.

The RSM will open up booking for these events as soon as possible.  Advance booking via the website is strongly recommended.  Please be aware that for F2F events, space is limited and while on the day registration is typically available, catering is only provided for those who have pre-registered and for popular events entry cannot be guaranteed.
