RSM regional training days – 2018/19 cycle

With the start of a new training year, the 2018/19 cycle of the RSM regional training days starts in October.  We are hoping for an excellent turnout for the Paediatric Emergency Medicine study day on 3rd October.

There are some changes for this year.  In this current financial climate, we have had to look at ways to ensure the days remain cost effective.

From October, only delegates who have pre-registered in advance will be catered for.  Catering will remain as a hot fork buffet with tea and coffee as before.  You can still register on the day, but lunch will not be provided, and unfortunately food purchased from outside the RSM or brought in from home cannot be eaten on the premises.

To help increase pre-registration, events will open earlier than before, to help maximise the sign up window.  The full programme is available for booking now.

There also needs to be a small rise in cost.  The day rate will rise from £45 to £50 for London School of Paediatrics trainees.  Rates have not been adjusted for several years, despite inflation, and this small change will help to address the rising costs of hosting the events.

Dates for the 2018/19 cycle are as below; we are aware of a clash with foundation induction in December and with half term, but dates are set by the RSM – apologies to those affected.

03-Oct-18 Paediatric emergency medicine

23-Oct-18 Adolescent medicine

13-Nov-18 Community paediatrics

05-Dec-18 Neurology

10-Jan-19 Allergy

07-Feb-19 Haematology (non malignant)

16-Apr-19 Mental Health – Learning together

07-May-19 Respiratory and ENT

23-May-19 Metabolic and genetics

06-Jun-19 Dermatology and rheumatology

17-Jul-19 Palliative care

The relationship between the RSM and the London School of Paediatrics is hugely important, and we hope that you will be supportive of the changes.  RSM training days should be approved automatically for trainees’ study leave applications.
