Learning Disability Simulation Course
31stJanuary and 1st/2nd February* 2022
This course is offered in collaboration with the Baked Bean Theatre Company, and provides a great opportunity to work with actors with learning disabilities while practicing communication skills in immersive simulations. Over the two days, you’ll:
- Develop the skills and knowledge to support patients and families living with a learning disability, in the context of the clinical setting
- Rehearse essential communication techniques to enhance practice in the care of patients with additional needs
- Understand the importance of providing reasonable adjustments, in order to reduce health inequalities for people with learning disabilities
- Increase awareness of the challenges that people with learning disabilities face when accessing the hospital setting
The course is for any patient-facing staff who look after patients or parents with learning disabilities.
