The Applied Paediatrics programme offers a range of online short courses. These are available as standalone CPD accredited courses for Paediatricians, GPs, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals involved in Child Health. Each short course is designed to deliver flexible learning suited to the demanding lives of healthcare professionals; they are delivered as short blocks of online teaching, supported by a virtual learning environment and live classes over a period of 5 weeks. The courses aim to develop the knowledge and skills of in a broad range of areas of paediatrics and child health.
Perinatal Care – 31 October – 2 December 2022
The Perinatal Care course includes appropriate assessment and management of maternal health and initial care and stabilisation of the neonate. This will develop your analytical and critical evaluation skills of practice and future research both nationally and globally of the prerequisites for the health of the newborn infant. Benefitting Paediatricians, Obstetricans, GPs, nurses, midwives, therapists, and other healthcare professionals involved in Child Health and fetal wellbeing.
Law and Ethics in Paediatrics – 3 January – 3 February 2023
This short course will help you to develop a systematic understanding of medical law and ethics
as applied to paediatric practice, with a critical awareness of current problems and new insights in the field. The course will enhance your understanding of the ethical and legal principles of treating children. This will include aspects such as research ethics in children, and end of life decision making. It also looks at aspects of child death including the role of the Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP), death certification and post mortem examinations, the Coroner’s role and Inquests.
