An update from the RCPCH

The RCPCH Trainee Committee met in mid-October in London.  Key updates included:
Curriculum: The new curriculum is now live! Unless you are CCT-ing before 15th September 2019, you should have access to the new curriculum in your portfolio. If you don’t have access, or previous tags haven’t mapped across, please email
The Trainees’ Committee are also putting together resources for ‘Domain of the month’, case studies and videos that we hope will give you some ideas about how you might evidence the new curriculum. They could also be used to help plan a teaching rota. This month is all about Leadership and Teamwork:
Eportfolio: Educational supervision forms are now all trainee led – you should complete your part before meeting you supervisor, so you can focus the meeting on the things you want to discuss. There is an additional mid-point supervision form that a trainer can initiate. The team are continually trying to improve how the curriculum works within kaizen – watch this space! If you have any other comments or questions, please contact
Shape of Training: This is a cross-speciality plan to change the way that postgraduate training is delivered in the UK. The changes will include a move to a two-level training programme, incorporating flexibility with out of programme opportunities and increased exposure to primary care/mental health during earlier stages of training. The indicative training time will be seven years. More information is available here ( but keep a look out  for an updated factsheet will be produced in the next few weeks – it it will update the current position and hopefully answer some of the questions that people have. We will post it on this website too!
