Tips for ACL Interview
- Discuss your plans to apply for ACL well in advance with your supervisor, academic leads at your institution (who may have influence over the awarding of ACL posts within your institution to Paediatrics or your subspeciality), current ACLs for advice
- Usually 1-3 ACL posts in Paediatrics in London per year (ICH +/- KCL, QMUL, Imperial)
- Job is a 50:50 post that you can do in 3 or 6 month blocks or as a split week
- Apply via the Oriel system
- Need to look out for the application window opening
- Standardised form with clinical and academic sections
- Interview will reflect this with a mixture of clinical and academic questions – so don’t forget about either aspect!
- Questions will cover aspects of your CV, previous clinical and academic achievements, future plans for your ACL.
- 4 senior clinicians/ academics on the panel.
- Held centrally e.g. at Senate House
- Rank preferences if >1 ACL position available (one interview for all of the different London Paeds ACL posts available). Candidate with the highest interview score will get first choice.
